Red Cross to Begin Contacting Residents Who Qualify for Assistance in Hard-Hit Areas of Spalding County

GRIFFIN, Ga. (Jan. 25, 2023) — Spalding County Emergency Management Agency Director Glenn Polk confirmed today that the Red Cross will be contacting residents in the hard-hit areas of Spalding County to let them know if they qualify for assistance. Calls, texts and emails will begin the end of this week and continue over the weekend.

Red Cross damage assessment teams have been working with FEMA and crossreferencing applications to see who qualifies. For more information or questions, please call 1-800-RED-CROSS.


FEMA Establishes Disaster Relief Center in Spalding County

GRIFFIN, Ga. (Jan. 25, 2023) — The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has established a Disaster Relief Center (DRC) at the Spalding County Senior Center (885 Memorial Drive in Griffin) to provide recovery resources for individuals and business owners in Griffin, Spalding County as well as other affected counties in the area. The DRC is open daily from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. until further notice.

FEMA agents at the DRC can provide assistance with individual claims on home and vehicle damage, personal belongings and physical injury. The Small Business Association (SBA) is also stationed at the Senior Center to aid small business owners and individuals.

FEMA encourages those affected by the storm to visit the DRC and ask questions, begin the application process and seek aid in the recovery process. FEMA and SBA applications can also be submitted online at http://www.disasterassistance.gov/ or via telephone at 1-800-621-3362.
